How do think of an Android-based Laptop?

Do you ever think of getting an Android based laptop? Or here comes a better question, when the whole world is already crowded with Mac and Windows PCs, Chrome Books, Linux computers, tablets and phablets, is there still room for Android powered laptops? It seems that the semiconductor company Allwinner Technology thinks so. The company recently showcased a laptop powered by Android, with an astonishingly low price of just $79.

Can’t imagine what would a $70 laptop look like? Here come some details. The laptop houses an 11.6-inch display with a resolution of 1366 x 768, and under the hood powering the machine is a 64-bit quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor, alongside with 1GB RAM. The onboard storage is only 8GB. However, Allwinner says more custom options will be available for potential buyers choose larger RAMs and storages, even the display can be upgraded to a slightly larger 14.1-inch if customers are willing to pay $20 more. As to the operating system, both the 11.6-inch and 14.1-inch models run a deeply skinned Android called Remix OS.

There is another thing needs to be noted beforehand, the rock-bottom price of $79 it claims is only available to volume orders, meaning that individual buyers are beyond its scope. If this turns out to be the truth, it looks less likely to generate much interest among general consumers. After all, it not the first time that manufacturers roll out Android-based laptops, we already have HP Slatebook and Lenovo A10, both of which do not capture enough attention, at least so far, let alone contributing a real figure in the sheet of world PC shipments, which, according the statistics conducted by Gartner Inc., reached 75.7 million units in the final quarter last year, declining 8.3 percent compared with the same time of 2014, and for the entire 2015, the number totaled at 288.7 million units, still an 8 percent down from 2014. Based on these results, analysts predict that the number will continue dropping in 2016, indicating that, the entire PC industry will experience a continuous slowdown in the years to come.

So, if both HP and Lenovo do not help too much in increasing the PC shipments by making Android powered laptops, can Allwinner Technology do it with its low-end and bottom priced models? What is your thought on this? If you are going to buy it, what will you use it for, probably on your trips for watching movies? If this is the case, then don’t forget to find a DVD ripper  so that you it can help you convert all your DVD collections on your new Android laptop.

Android powered laptops are a good idea and again it would go custom with Google Android books. Fully internet optimized and working with only applications. I thinks its a great idea and Google should work on it.
