    Fix Windows Live Mail Error

Windows Live Mail is an outdated email client that has many issues like unreliable email exchange, deleted emails, or confusion in message metadata, etc. Microsoft has now stopped this freeware email client. However, it has an advantage that it is compatible with almost all Windows Operating System versions, and so some users are still using it as the client for email exchange and information storage.

We are going to discuss in this blog one such a recurring error which most users complain about – Windows Live Mail Error ID 0x800CCC79.

    Windows Live Mail Error 0x800CCC79

This message generally appears when a Windows Live Mail user attempts to send a message to the intended recipient. But, instead of the message being sent, this error message appears before the user:

The message couldn’t be sent because one of the receivers rejected the server. The rejected e-mail address was ‘[email protected]’. Subject ‘****’, Account: ‘servername.com’, Server: ‘servername.com’, Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: ‘550 relay not permitted’, Port: 465, Secure (SSL): Yes, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

Another form of appearance of the error 0x800ccc79 is when any user tries to login or launch the Windows Live Mail. In this case, the error message appears on the corner of the screen and disappears automatically after some time. Although it disappears, the message is an annoyance each time users think of using the Windows Live Mail.

Solutions to Fix Windows Live Mail Error 0x800CCC79

We are providing some manual solutions based on the situation of the error as mentioned above.

When the Error Message Appears While Attempting to Send Emails
In this case, the message itself tells the cause –

The message couldn’t be sent because one of the receivers rejected the server. The rejected e-mail address was ‘[email protected]’. Subject ‘****’, Account: ‘servername.com’, Server: ‘servername.com’, Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: ‘550 relay not permitted’, Port: 465, Secure (SSL): Yes, Server Error: 550, Error Number: 0x800CCC79.

The server is not allowing to send the message to the recipient, which means there is some issue in the server settings. This is an SMTP error. Here, SMTP authentication could be disabled. To fix this, please follow these steps.

    • Open the Windows Live Mail application.
    • Select your account, right-click on it, and select Properties option.
    • Switch to the Advanced tab and move to the Outgoing server option.
    • Select the checkbox saying “My outgoing server requires authentication” and click on OK.
    • After that, you need to close and restart the Windows Live Mail application.
    • Try sending the email again and check if the error comes again or not.

When the Error Message Appears on Logging on to The Application
This situation generally occurs if there is a stuck mail in the mailbox Outbox folder. Here are the steps to fix that.

    • Log in to your Windows Live Mail application.
    • Once the error message disappears, go to File >> Work Offline. It would put the application in the offline mode.
    • Now, go to the mailbox Outbox folder, select the email message within it, right-click and select Delete option to delete it.
    • Again follow File >> Work Offline to disable the offline mode.
    • Close the application and restart your system.
    • After that, you need to check if the error appears on launching the Windows Live Mail application.

These were our free manual solutions which you can adopt to continue working on your Windows Live Mail application without any disturbance.

Are You Planning for migration from Windows Live Mail to Outlook?

If you are planning to quit Windows Live Mail as it is not a promising and reliable email client for you, then we suggest you move from Windows Live Mail to Outlook email client. Microsoft has even discontinued Windows Live Mail to focus on Outlook, a professional email client.

While exporting emails from Windows Live Mail to Outlook, it is essential that you move your existing data too. And the best option for migration is by using a professional EML to PST Converter tool which can move your crucial emails from the EML files to Outlook PST file format so that you can use in your new email client. EML to PST Converter tool easily moves EML/EMLX files to Outlook PST and other file formats.

It allows exporting multiple files altogether or selectively. Using this tool, you can also convert EML files into MSG format and also migrate to Office 365 cloud. The interface is very friendly which you can confirm by working on its free demo version. Have a good Windows Live Mail to Outlook migration!

    Conclusion

Windows Live Mail application error ID 0x800CCC79 can be fixed using the manual solutions but migrating from Windows Live Mail email client to Outlook is the best option. Hence, a secure and reliable EML to PST Converter tool is recommended for users.
